The Shapura Collection
A distinctive characteristic of all Shapura rugs is the masterful visual texture reminiscent of hand-knotted
"Peshawar" rugs. Karastan's designers have replicated this effect by using meticulously placed nuances of
color. The patterns used are traditional, yet relaxed, in a palette of decorating-friendly, 'time-worn' hues
perfectly geared towards today's interiors.
The field of Karastan's Mandara is a beautifully balanced classic design of palmettes and vines. The pattern
motifs in limestone and subtle neutrals are softly contrasted with the 'putty' field, giving this traditional design
a remarkably transitional flavor. This flowing design provides easy to live with, understated elegance.
Rugs from the Shapura collection are woven in the U.S.A. of premium fully worsted New Zealand wool and
represent the standard of excellence in power-loomed wool rugs. This pattern has been crafted using
dozens of individually skein dyed yarns for precise color clarity. The yarn is then woven through the back and
finished with Karastan's Lustre-Wash process to recreate as closely as possible the look and feel of a fine
hand-knotted rug.
