The Karastan Ashara Collection
The graceful motifs and open ground in Karastan's Toscano pattern showcase the signature 'stria' effect.
The artful 'stria' effect so beautifully evident in the center field is created by combining many gradations of
color in order to achieve the rich variations often found in fine carpets woven with hand-dyed, hand-spun wool
yarns. This softened visual texture gives these rugs a relaxed appeal that is comfortable with both traditional
and casual furnishings.
Rugs from the Ashara Collection are woven in the U.S.A. of premium fully worsted New Zealand wool and
represent the standard of excellence in power-loomed wool rugs. Each of the 30 colors used in creation of
this pattern have been individually skein dyed for jewel tone clarity, woven through the back and luster
washed to create as closely as possible the look and feel of the magnificent hand-knotted rug that inspired it.
