Hanging Rugs on a Wall for Display- The RugMan's Blog
Friday, October 24th, 2008

Hanging an Oriental Rug on a wall can make a stunning and
attractive display in your home.  While the effect of fine hand-knotted
textiles can be pleasing, the actual installation of it can be slightly
difficult if not damaging to your rug and home.

There are a few correct ways that you can hang a rug on a wall for
display.  Most of our clients are not hanging rugs larger that 5x7 size
on walls, so we will focus on rugs 5x7 or smaller for the purpose of
this article.

The idea is to install the piece on a wall with both the look and
supportive structure that your home and rug deserve.  If installed
improperly, you will damage both your rug and your wall.

Our rug experts recommend a rug hanging kit from the Zoroufy
company.  Since the 1970’s, Zoroufy has been manufacturing stair
rods, wall hangers, and floor registers specifically for oriental rugs.
Their knowledge and experience has created three collections of
wall hanging kits, Legacy, Regency, and Grand Regency.  We do not
offer these kits as part of our store as they are easily found at your
local Lowes or Home Depot.

These kits consist of a rod and finial, hardware to attach the system
to your wall, and decorative clips to attach your rug to the rod.
Multiple styles, finishes, and rod lengths are available.
