Turkmen rugs on show at Schloss Gifhorn
Turkmen Textile Art
Friday, May 30, 2008
Until 17 August 2008, the Historical Museum at Schloss Gifhorn, between
Wolfsburg and Braunschweig in Lower Saxony, is hosting an exhibition of
Turkmen textile art, including pile carpets, flatweaves and embroideries, from
the collection of Dr Karl-Heinz and Gertrud Geib.
At the opening of the show on 12 April 2008, the well-known specialist collector
Peter Hoffmeister from Coburg introduced visitors to the subject of Turkmen
weaving, while the attention given to the exhibition in the local and regional
press has, according to museum director Dr Conrad, ensured a healthy
attendance.
